Sandeman 40 Anos Tawny
Castas: Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão e Touriga Franca.
Wine Enthusiast, Roger Voss, EUA | 96/100 PTS, “This wine confirms Sandeman’s reputation for aged tawnies. Intensely perfumed and hugely concentrated, it is a wine for contemplation and sipping. Almonds, walnuts, dried fruit and aged honey flavors all come together in this astonishing Port. Ready to drink, it is totally memorable.”
International Wine Challenge, Reino Unido | Troféu Tawny 40 Anos
International Wine Challenge, Reino Unido | Ouro, 96/100 PTS, “Smoky bacon, coffee and tar on the nose with layers of flavour. Fresh yet warm, with a fiery boldness – vanilla, caramel and coffee with a citrus tang. Clean, long finish.”
International Wine & Spirit Competition, Reino Unido | Troféu Vinho do Porto
International Wine & Spirit Competition, Reino Unido | Ouro, 97/100 PTS, “Golden oak colour with gleaming amber brushstrokes. Glacier fruits, sugarplums, citrus flower water and cardamom. Beautifully rich but which stops short of unctuous by a freshness and vibrancy in the mouth. The sweetness is counterbalanced by a savoury, nutty complexity which dries the wine off on the warm finish. A truly exceptional wine which has superb poise and elegance, worthy for a wine of this age and stature.”
Mundus Vini Spring Tasting, Alemanha | Ouro
Jancis Robinson, Tim Jackson MW, Reino Unido | 17/20 PTS, “Pale amber tawny. Fudge, wood polish and some dried-flower lift, and a delicate touch of dried strawberry. Clove and cinnamon spice, mahogany, dried tobacco and again some residual fruit to bring freshness. Integrated alcohol and good length. Much the best of Sandeman’s.”
Decanter World Wine Awards, Reino Unido | Melhor do Concurso
Decanter World Wine Awards, Reino Unido | Platina, 97/100 PTS, “Deep, translucent rose-amber in colour. Lifted, elegant and very refined in aroma, not so much intensified as sublimated by time. All of that fragrant softness and refinement drifts effortlessly into its silky, seamless, supremely sippable palate. A grand fortified wine which almost seems to defy analysis, so harmonious and so complete is it.”
Robert Parker – Wine Advocate, MarK Squires, EUA | 94/100 PTS, ” It is here, finally, in the Sandeman tawny lineup this issue that the wine feels full-bodied and seriously powerful. This rolls around the palate nicely and lingers in that classic old-tawny fashion. There is considerable grip on that flavorful finish. For all of its power and concentration, this 40 is also as lively as any of its younger siblings. While it certainly shows somewhat older, with darker flavors leaning a bit more to the molasses side of the equation, it is still bright, penetrating and focused. It is the pick of the litter of the Sandeman tawnies this issue. “
Wine Spectator, James Molesworth, EUA | 94/100 PTS, “A lovely, high-pitched style, with a honeysuckle note out front, followed quickly by golden raisin, persimmon, glazed peach, heather and white ginger flavors. Light caramel details fill in through the finish, lending a sweet component while leaving the brightness intact.”
